Objective:
Students will . . .
test the effects of salt concentration on the hatching viability of Artemia in order to relate the variation in brine shrimp's salt tolerance to the concept of natural selection.

Warm Up:
  • Pick up Manila Folder and Handouts
  • Calculate the amount of salt (in grams) to dissolve in 30 ml of water for each of the following percentages:
  • 0%
  • .5%
  • 1%
  • 1.5%
  • 2%
  • See the front board for an example worked out..... 

Classwork:
  • Natural Selection lab 
    • Guided Activity - 30 minutes
    • Inquiry Activity - 30 minutes
    • Complete Exam
Homework:
  • Create Student Presentation Folders 
  • Lab Group Discussion (if time)
