Friday, September 7, 2012 - B DAY


Objective:
Students will . . .
conduct counts of hatched brine shrimp, quantify the effects of salinity on hatching viability of brine shrimp, test other factors that affect hatching viability of brine shrimp in order to relate salinity tolerance of brine shrimp to natural selection.

Warm Up:
  • Quietly hand in your Newspaper Activities to Justina
  • Prepare for and begin Exam
  • Upon completion of the exam, please move on to Day 3 
  • Upon completion of the Day 3 activities, please clean lab and return to seats so we can complete the Presentation Folders.
Classwork:
  • Exam Ch. 23
  • Natural Selection Lab 
  • Presentation Folders
Homework:
  • Calculate the hatching viability for each of your 5 dishes.  The equation is found in your handout.

  • Plot the data from Table 1.  Title the graph and label the axes after identifying the independent and dependent variables.
  • Begin working on the Laboratory Questions
  • Lab Group Discussion (if time)
