Monday, September 14, 2009 -- A Day

Objective:
Students will review basic chemistry vocabulary and concepts by using kinesthetic models in order to explore functional groups.

Warm Up:
Each lab group pick up one molecular model kit and construct the following model: C5H12. Compare your molecular model with others in the class. Draw your very best image of this model in your warm up journal and answer the following questions:

a. Why are there different forms of the same chemical formula?
b. What would it take to make these molecules identical?
c. How would the properties of different forms react differently?
d. What do we call molecules that have more than one structural
form?

Classwork:
Functional Groups Activity
Functional Groups Notes
Functional Groups Foldable

Homework:
Begin Notes for Chapter 4 and 5
Chapter 4/5 Unit Sheet
